LOWER LAKE >> Aleia Milano led the way with 19 points and Ashlyn Mock added 12, all on 3-pointers, as the Lower Lake Trojans improved to 2-1 in the North Central League I varsity girls’ basketball standings with a 53-38 win over the Fort Bragg Timberwolves on Tuesday night in Lower Lake.
Playing their third straight game without starting point guard Samantha Caires (out with a concussion), the Trojans secured their 10th win of the season against only five losses.
Milano, a sophomore shooting guard, is on a pretty good roll of late and has tallied 61 points in her last three games. She has scored double figures in all but one of the Trojans’ games this season.
“We shot the ball pretty well but it was our defense that stepped up,” Lower Lake coach Bryce Brin said. “It was a nice team win.”
Sequoia Dreyer played at the point and while she didn’t score in the game, she led the Trojans with eight assists.
“She did a nice job filling in for Sam,” Brin said.
Leading 19-12 at halftime, the Trojans put the game away with a 20-11 third quarter that featured all four of Mock’s 3-pointers and two more treys by Milano, who had five in all.
“Eighteen of our 20 points in the quarters were on 3s,” Brin said.
Katelyn Farrell added eight points and Jolean Scarbourgh added seven points and a team-best 11 rebounds.
Lower Lake also won the junior varsity game on Tuesday, beating Fort Bragg 48-21 behind 24 points from Vanessa Hughes.
