Lake County >> The World Renew team will be in Lake County starting Wednesday to determine the rebuild, recovery and assistance needs of the community and the extent of those needs.

Team Lake County (TLC) requested the services of the national disaster recovery group, which will have volunteers conducting one-on-one interviews with fire survivors in the latter part of January. This process will help to prioritize individual needs and connect survivors with TLC for long-term recovery support, individual case management as well as financial and construction assistance for those most in need.

Several walk-in locations in the South Lake County area will be available for residents affected by the fire to seek assistance with fire losses and recovery needs. Interviews will be conducted by a team of trained World Renew volunteers. All information will be kept confidential and used to assist designated case managers to help residents connect with available resources.

The information will also help to determine a detailed estimate of the total cost for recovery in the community so that TLC, in partnership with government agencies, can raise the necessary recovery funds and donations to assist individuals of the community with unmet needs.

Interview questions will be straightforward and should not require residents to supply any paperwork. If fire survivors have a FEMA number, they are asked to bring that with them to the interview. Spanish language interpreters or other special needs accommodations will be available as needed or requested.

The World Renew team will be in Lake County until Feb. 4. Interview site locations and hours of operation will be announced soon.
