ORLAND >> Isaiah Rubio of the Punishers Wrestling Club of Lower Lake won the 66-pound division last weekend at the Spiderpatch Invitational Tournament of Champions qualifier in Orland.
Rubio won both of his matches to collect the championship trophy, which he will use to begin a new collection. A Valley Fire victim, Rubio lost his Hidden Valley Lake home in September and along with it all of those trophies he had previously won at tournaments.
While Rubio was competing in Orland, other Punishers wrestlers were participating in tournaments in Corning and Fair Oaks.
Arturo Gudino went 4-1 to place third in the 40-pound division at the Corning PAL Elementary Tournament.
At Bella Vista High School in Fair Oaks, Carter Rudolph, Adam Viramontes and Hayden Fowler took part in the Bronco Wrestling Club Tournament. Rudolph came in second in the Bantam division, Viramontes was third in the Novice division, and Fowler came up just short of a medal.
The Punishers head to Gilroy this weekend for the City Rumble.
