New party chair

Thank you for the opportunity to help wake a sleeping giant here in Lake County, that giant is the Lake County Republican Party.

Our local party has been idle for the past several years, until now.

My name is Dee Cuney, I’m a former Republican County Chairman from Napa County and a past member of the Napa County Republican Central Committee for 28 years. I’m the current Lake County Republican Central Committee Chairman, ready and willing to make our local party stronger than it has been in the past. I’m determined to make our party alive and well again as it should be. I can’t do this alone, I need a few dedicated Republicans to step up and help. Together we are better!

It’s also time to take out your nomination papers to run to be on the Lake County Republican Central Committee. The election is June 7 and those elected will take office January 2017. If you’re interested in running for the Lake County Republican Central Committee you will need to go to the Lake County Elections Office ASAP and take out your nomination papers (there is no charge).

Candidates for Republican Central Committee are encouraged to bring your nomination papers to the Feb. 9 Central Committee Meeting for a signing party.

We are currently making appointments to fill 2016 openings on the Lake County Republican Central Committee for all supervisor districts.

I’m hoping you will join us Tuesday Feb. 9 at Round Table Pizza in Lakeport at 6:30 p.m. for our social time (no host food and beverage), 7 p.m. for our business meeting.

Republicans are always Welcome to attend. Call 707-235-2902 for information.

Our meetings are always the 2nd Tuesday of each month same time, same location.

See you Feb. 9.

Dee Cuney, Lake County Republican Central Committee Chairman

Racism

Racist America is at it again! In a recent CNN interview, Spike Lee pointed out that not one Afro-American was nominated for an Academy Award! There is only one way to combat this prejudice: affirmative action. The Academy Awards, the OBIEs, the Pulitzer Prize, and, yes, if it can be managed, Nobel Prizes should have a quota system. Since

Afro-Americans comprise about 15 percent of the American population, they should receive 15 percent of all awards.

Spike did not stop with just the awards, he also commented on sports. He noted that more football coaches should be Afro-American. Fair-minded people can only agree. At least 15 percent of the coaches should be Afro-American. Unfortunately, time ran out before Spike could address the issue of players, but I’m sure he would have commented on the NBA where 94 percent of the players are Afro-American. Needless to say, this number should be cut back to 15 percent in order that parity can be reached by the athletically-challenged Anglos. The same is true of the NFL where Afro-Americans comprise about 64 percent of the players. The disparity should be cut back to 15 percent. The same applies to baseball.

Likewise, one must not leave out the exciting sports of Bocce Ball and Hurling where there are no Afro-American players or coaches. I, for one, call for an immediate correction of this deplorable situation!

In bitter conclusion, Dear Editor, we must not let our political goals be subverted by a quest for intellectual and athletic excellence!
