KELSEYVILLE >> Scott Sanchez and Randy Pfann scored nine points apiece while Adrian Villalobos and Jon Vanderwall added eight each in Kelseyville’s 56-30 victory over the St. Helena Saints in North Central League I junior varsity boys’ basketball action on Tuesday in Kelseyville.
“He played a big role in the middle for us,” Kelseyville coach Rich Facey said of Vanderwall, a first-year player.
Kelseyville had the game well in hand by halftime with a 38-19 lead.
Coming off a loss on Friday against Middletown, the Knights improved to 6-1 at the midway mark of the league race. They open the second half at home Friday against Fort Bragg at 6 p.m.
In other boys’ action Tuesday:
Lower Lake 43, Clear Lake 38
At Lakeport, Jermaine Watson’s 14 points powered the Lower Lake Trojans to a league win over the Clear Lake Cardinals. Lower Lake improved to 5-2 in the NCL I standings with the victory while Clear Lake slipped to 4-3.
Guy Boyd scored nine points for the Trojans and Izzac Carver had eight. Lucas Stahr’s seven points paced the Cardinals.
M’town 40, Willits 36
At Willits, despite scoring only 12 points in the first half, the Middletown Mustangs rallied for a league win over the Willits Wolverines, improving to 3-4 in league play.
Trey O’Neill’s 18 points led the Mustangs and Isaiah Moore had eight.
Upper Lake 78, Roseland Collegiate 17
At Upper Lake, minus three sick starters, the Upper Lake Cougars had no problem beating Roseland Collegiate in NCL II action.
Nathan Snead led the scoring parade with 23 points points, Chris Fecht added another 14 and J.T.Claunch had 11 as the Cougars improved to 5-1 in league play.
Upper Lake is off Friday (Tomales has no JV team) and returns to action next Tuesday against Rincon Valley Christian in Santa Rosa at 5 p.m.
Girls’ basketball
K’ville 43, St. Helena 32
At St. Helena, Bailey Couey scored 12 points and Bib Hamner added 10 as the Kelseyville Knights beat the St. Helena Saints for their fifth league win in seven games.
Roseland Collegiate 35, Upper Lake 31
At Upper Lake, Roseland Collegiate defeated Upper Lake in NCL II action. No other details were reported.
