Clearlake >> Doors are open and students have begun their spring semester. On Jan. 19, students either started or returned to the Lake County Campus of Woodland Community College.
Students this semester were welcomed by the associated students who helped put together welcoming activities complete with raffle prizes and filled with information about services found on the campus. Students received USB Flash Drives, $25 gift cards, educational supplies and gift cards for Aromas Café.
Classes are still open and available for registration. Those who are interested, can come in to the main office where staff is available to assist with the process of adding a class. After a student attends a class he or she wants to add, an instructor will sign an add slip that should be returned to the office to complete the process.
Along with the new semester comes a new series of campus entertainment for the students and the surrounding community. Every Thursday starting at noon, musicians and speakers will entertain the campus. Today at noon, the first artist featured will be Richey Bronson. Everyone is invited to the campus to listen to the soulful vocals from Bronson. Beginning Feb. 17, Aromas Café will open up to the public so that food may be served during this concert series. The restaurant showcases food created by the students of the culinary arts program. The Lake County Campus is looking to enhance its campus culture, and this is one of the many ways that the community can enjoy the new ambience.
Classes this semester will continue well into May until graduation. The last day of the semester is May 26.
