KELSEYVILLE >> The Shield is headed to Lower Lake High School after the Trojans, flexing a bit of Coastal Mountain Conference muscle, beat the Kelseyville Knights 48-33 on Wednesday night to cap a tri-meet sweep that also included a hard-fought 43-35 victory over the Fort Bragg Timberwolves at Kelseyville High School.
Lower Lake, the defending CMC champion, is off to a 4-0 start this season. The Shield, a new perpetual trophy that will go to the winner of each year’s match between the Trojans and Knights, is spending year one of its existence in Lower Lake.
Kelseyville, a 55-20 loser to Fort Bragg in the night’s first dual, is now 1-3 in the CMC standings.
Due to the length of Wednesday’s matches – action started at 5 p.m. and was just wrapping up at 10 p.m. – results were not available at deadline. The Record-Bee will have a complete roundup in Friday’s print edition.
Lower Lake’s wrestlers have a busy Saturday ahead. The varsity boys are participating in the Puma Classic at Maria Carrillo High School in Santa Rosa, the junior varsity boys are headed to the Willits Tournament, and the girls are entered in the Lady Eagles Classic at Del Oro High School in Loomis. Kelseyville’s varsity boys are also taking part in the Puma Classic while the Kelseyville girls have the weekend off.
