LAKEPORT >> The Lakeport Police Department is requesting the public’s help with identifying a person of interest. The search stems from an incident yesterday in which an older man offered a high school girl a ride.

On Thursday, Jan. 28 at approximately 7:45 a.m., a white male adult was reported to have approached a 10th grade female near the Umpqua Bank. According to Lakeport Police Sergeant Gary Basor, the male was described as being 60 to 70 years old, thin in build, wearing a brown heavy winter coat. The student told police the man had no facial hair, a wrinkled face, with a bald spot.

The young female reported he approached her on foot and offered to give her a ride to school although a vehicle was not seen or associated with the older male.

Authorities ask if you have seen someone matching the description or might know who this person is, please contact the Lakeport Police Department at 707-263-5491.
