Lakeport >> The Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) needs volunteer board members to lead and strengthen local efforts.

It is a supplemental program authorized under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act designed to support homeless individuals and their access to services. The EFSP is a supported by both the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as well as the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

In 2015, seven different organizations in Lake County received more than $40,000 to help support the needs of homeless individuals.

EFSP is governed by a national board and local boards are convened to help select and guide organizations that receive funding. Each year, local boards are tasked with assessing needs in an effort to respond to changes in the community.

The Lake County board meets quarterly and on an as-needed basis in Lakeport.

For more information on becoming a board member contact Lake County Local Board Chair Traci Boyl at tboyl@ncoinc.org or (707) 263-4688 ext. 121
