Tax Preparedness Service offered: Tax preparation will be offered beginning Feb. 3 at the Ukiah Senior Center on a first-come-first-served basis on Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Bartlett Hall, ending April 15. Be sure to bring photo identification with you as well as yearly forms and documents showing income. Even if you do not have enough income to require you to file, the Internal Revenue Service recommends that you file in order to prevent identity theft and possible fraud. The Tax volunteers will be glad to help you.
Free Healthier Living classes: A new free workshop series will be offered once a week beginning Thursday, Feb. 4 through March 10 at The Ukiah Senior Center’s Administration building in the RCHDC Conference Room from 9 to 11:30 a.m. This workshop, presented by Susan Era and Charlie Seltzer, will help you cope and manage your disease and live life again. Advance Directive workshop: This workshop is designed to lead participants through a step-by step process of personal evaluation to complete an Advance Directive, a planning document for health and life decisions. It documents your wishes in the areas of choosing a healthcare agent, the kind of medical treatment you want or don’t want, how you want people to treat you and what you want your loved ones to know about your choices. The workshop will be presented in two segments, two hours each, with the second segment on March 12. It will be co-led by Miriam Raphael, Carol Hale, Margy Henderson and Robin Cottrell, who have had extensive experience in end of life, palliative and hospice care. Workshops will be held at Ukiah Senior Center Admin. Bldg, 499 Leslie St., in the Lunch Bunch Room from 10 a.m. To noon. Space is limited.
