More waste
Gee. Has anyone seen the missing million dollars worth of State Department SUV’s that the United States lost in the country of Yemen last year, when we had to evacuate that country? It seems Obama’s spokesmouth (Jen Jaski) at the state department assured us that we would be getting them back. Yeah right.
More lies and wasted money from the Obama state department.

Dwindling options
In reference to Lakeport’s Thomas Nickel letter of “Compassion in the right place”, Op-Ed Wed. Feb. 3rd.
Mr. Nickel’s assessment of the misguided “bleeding heart liberals” who contend that America has the means and wealth to accept unlimited numbers of the world’s immigrants is right on. His further suggestion of the need for more compassion at home rightfully suggests that prudent management and help for our existing citizens in need is far more important than unlimited levels of immigration numbers.
Mr. Nickel expresses his concerns of over populating our nation with out of control immigration, asylum and refugee quotas “that our current federal government feels we should take in”, and rightfully so. The current level of immigration is stressing the health of our environment, the stability of our health and financial systems and increasing demands and costs of Homeland Security. The best analogy of our situation is no different than a life boat at sea, built for 16 passengers, if say 40 are allowed to board, all persons perish.
Where’s the compassion here?
As we American’s watch many countries fall into financial distress, forcing many of it’s citizens to immigrate elsewhere, we can only ask ourselves what is happening and does America still have the means to make a difference?
Many institutions blame lack of population control and unstable fiat currencies as the root of the problem. During the 1960s era, when our nation began running huge deficits, due to space exploration and the Vietnam war, many countries began demanding gold in payment because they feared the U.S. was printing more money than our actual gold inventory could cover. To combat the drain in our gold reserves, Richard Nixon “temporarily” removed America from the gold standard by executive order, allowing our government and many others to run huge deficits in a short time. The temptation for politicians and third world leaders to buy votes with provisions to their constituents, using unlimited fiat currency from the printing press was and is much too convenient. So much for temporary!
So with $18 trillion dollars of debt rising at some $45,000 per second, the life boat is beginning to list and our compassionate options are dwindling.
Since the world’s oil supply is still traded in dollars, the U.S. still has the edge by having the “world currency”. However, with many countries’ currency pegged to the dollar, we have a tremendous responsibility to the rest of the world in keeping our currency solvent.
The most passionate gift America has to offer the world is to reunite as one nation by putting our political ambition and differences aside. We must curb our level of consumption to what we, as a nation, are able to produce, start living within our means and paying down our crushing $18 trillion of debt.
America is still the only nation with the resources to lead the world out of this impending crisis and we must lead by example.
Humanity will survive only through stabilization of population growth and a world currency backed by silver and gold. Prioritizing global warming issues and lowering our carbon footprint in lieu of stabilizing global population growth and currency is an awful mistake. All the recent global warming rhetoric will never have significance in our future without changing our priorities soon.

If there’s a nuclear war and at the end of it there are two Americans and one Russian left, then we’ve won — if the Americans are a man and a woman.
