ANDERSON >> The North State Modified Series (NSMS) has entered into a partnership with Protect the Harvest for the 2016 racing season.
Protect the Harvest was created by Lucas Oil founder Forrest Lucas to defend and preserve the freedom of American consumers, farmers, ranchers, outdoor enthusiasts and animal owners. It has established a tow-money program for NSMS drivers whereby the top 10 point leaders will each receive $100 upon arriving at the race track. This program is designed to help drivers with the high cost of travel. It officially begins May 7 during a points race at the Shasta Speedway in Anderson and will continue through the remainder of the 2016 season.
NSMS organizer Jeff Stephens has been working on this project for several months. He met with Lucas in December and with other Lucas Oil officials last month in Southern California to discuss and work out details of the program.
“My partners Bob and Nadine (Strauss) and I are constantly working to make our series better for our racers,” Stephens said. “This tow-money program is a positive start to our ongoing improvement program and we are pleased that Protect the Harvest is stepping up so we can make this a reality.”
In addition to the Protect the Harvest tow-money program, Lucas Oil has agreed to continue with the Lucas Oil Dash for Cash, giving $100 to the winner and $50 to the runner-up at each race.
The NSMS opens its 2016 schedule on April 23 at All American Speedway in Roseville with the inaugural Gene Welch Classic.
