UPPER LAKE >> The Upper Lake Cougars reached their season goal of 15 wins on Friday night with a 58-48 victory over the Sonoma Academy Coyotes in North Central League II varsity boys’ basketball action at Upper Lake.
“That’s a big win, a huge win for us,” Upper Lake coach Justin Dutcher said. “That puts us in the playoffs I’m pretty sure.”
The Cougars trailed 26-25 at halftime on Friday when Dutcher challenged his team to play hard for the final 16 minutes.
“They responded and stepped up,” Dutcher said. “They came to play.”
Isaac Nevarez led Upper Lake (8-4 league, 15-8 overall) with 18 points and Derek Pritchard added 15.
