KELSEYVILLE >> Noah Brown picked the absolute perfect time to turn red-hot from the field on Friday night as his Middletown Mustangs scored a 51-50 upset over the Kelseyville Knights in a North Central League I junior varsity boys’ basketball game at Kelseyville.
“He came alive for them,” Kelseyville coach Rich Facey said of the freshman Brown, who scored all 10 of his points in the fourth quarter. “They just got hot against us.”
Kelseyville (9-4) took a 24-17 lead into halftime but Middletown battle back with a 17-10 third quarter to knot the score at 34-all entering the final period.
The Knights had what Facey called “two good looks” on potential game-winning shots in the final seconds but couldn’t make either.
“It’s a hard loss because of that,” Facey said.
Luke Holt led the Mustangs with 13 points while Brown and Colton Hall added 10 apiece. Trey O’Neill had seven.
Kelseyville was powered by Adrian Villalobos’ 18 points and 12 more from Anthony Panatleon. Scott Sanchez finished with six. Villalobos and Pantaleon each had four 3-pointers.
Both teams close out their seasons tonight. Kelseyville visits St. Helena while Middletown hosts Willits.

Upper Lake 63, Son. Academy 37
At Upper Lake, JT Claunch scored 15 of his team-leading 22 points in the second quarter, all of them on 3-pointers, as the Upper Lake Cougars routed the Sonoma Academy Coyotes in NCL II play. Claunch finished with six 3-pointers overall.
Meanwhile teammate Robert Neils also had a pretty good night from the field, scoring 19 points, including five 3-pointers. Kenneth Hodges added 10 points as the Cougars improved to 9-2 in league.
Girls’ basketball
Kelseyville 41, M’town 33
At Middletown, Brisa Villa led the way with 12 points and the Kelseyville Knights turned back the Middletown Mustangs in NCL I action.
Bailey Couey added nine points in the win.
Kassi Agapoff’s 11 points paced Middletown.
The Knights led 15-12 at halftime.
