ST. HELENA >> Saving their best quarter of the season for their last quarter of the season, the Kelseyville High School junior varsity boys’ basketball team scored 29 points in the final period to overtake and beat the St. Helena Saints 55-47 in North Central League I action on Tuesday at St. Helena.
It was the league and season finale for both teams.
“It was fun to watch,” Kelseyville coach Rich Facey said of the comeback victory.
The slow-starting Knights trailed 19-13 at halftime and 32-26 after three quarters.
“All the kids contributed,” Facey said. “We got out into the open floor and ran the ball real well. Our defense also had to stop them and did.”
Adrian Villalobos led the Knights with 23 points while Vermontay Luia finished with 10.
Kelseyville finishes up at 10-4 in league play and 18-8 overall.

M’town 55, Willits 34
At Middletown, it wasn’t a great season for the Middletown Mustangs, but at least they finished up strong with a win over the Willits Wolverines, their third victory in the last four games.
“We played really well down the stretch,” Middletown coach Jon Hoogendoorn said.
Isaiah Moore scored 13 of his team-leading 14 points in the first half for the Mustangs, who went 6-8 in league play. Luke Holt appeared to be on his way to a big game after scoring seven points in the first quarter but a knee injury sidelined him later in the first half and he ended up with nine points.
“All 14 of my guys scored,” Hoogendoorn said.
Clear Lake 62, Lower Lake 48
At Lower Lake, Lucas Stahr led the way with 14 points and Brady McGuire and Tanner Cole added 10 apiece as the Clear Lake Cardinals defeated the Lower Lake Trojans.
It was Clear Lake’s 20th win of the season against only four losses. The Cardinals were10-4 in league.
Lower Lake scoring wasn’t reported.
Rose. Prep 56, Upper Lake 43
At Santa Rosa, needing a win to claim a share of the NCL II championship, the Upper Lake Cougars fell to the Roseland Prep Knights.
JT Claunch led the Cougars with 13 points and Nathan Sneed had 12.
Upper Lake is 8-3 in league and 16-7 overall.
Girls’ basketball
K’ville 58, St. Helena 17
At Kelseyville, Brisa Villa led the way with 16 points and Bib Hamner added 12 more as the Kelseyville Knights closed out the season with a league win over the St. Helena Saints.
Kia Kohler had four points for the Knights.
Clear Lake 56, Lower Lake 32
At Lakeport, with the NCL I title already won, Lower Lake coach Dave Milano rewarded all of his players with plenty of minutes as they fell to the Clear Lake Cardinals in the league and season finale for both teams.
Lower Lake brought a 13-0 league record into play.
“We were substituting players in five at a time,” Milano said. “While winning is important to us, we decided that getting everybody into the last game as a reward for all their hard work during the season was more important.”
Grace Davidson led the Cardinals with 19 points, Kortnie Reynolds added 11 and Brooklyn Jenkins had nine.
Vanessa Hughes led the Trojans with 13 points and Anahi Robles had eight.
Rose. Prep 32, Upper Lake 26
At Santa Rosa, the Upper Lake Cougars fell to Roseland Prep in NCL II action.
Cheyanne Obedoza’s 12 points powered the Cougars while Delaney Love added seven.
