Clearlake >> Free children’s classes are being offered in Clearlake, in the Learning House Preschool building, across from Redbud Library, with an introductory meeting for interested families scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 27. Children’s classes will be held on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., beginning on March 12. Instructors have been trained as part of a worldwide program for community development, and include professional educators from Lake, Mendocino and Napa counties.
Class materials are designed for children 6 to 10 and are provided worldwide at no cost by the Baha’I Faith, and are designed to help build healthy communities and families. Children’s classes are not based on “religious instruction,” but instead are designed to teach children to be better citizens of the world. Children will develop their own spiritual practice, and each class will focus on a virtue that is respected worldwide, such as kindness, cleanliness, honesty, generosity, prayer, and patience.
This curriculum is offered worldwide, free of charge, by the Baha’i Faith, which sees education as sacred and respects all major religions. Classes are designed to be acceptable to all who wish their children to have spiritual practice.
Parents and family are always welcome to attend children’s classes, or to participate in prayer circles and other community activities offered in other classroom as the same time. Activities for other age groups may be provided if there is interest. People of any and all faiths are welcome and respected.
The class schedule will begin with a snack, followed by songs and sharing of prayers. The virtue for the lesson theme will then be introduced along with a discussion of real life examples. Students will then learn an a prayer related to the virtue, then hear a story related to it. A theme-related activity will be given, followed by play time, then lunch.
