The second meeting of the year for the SIR Branch #133 monthly assembly was held on Feb. 19. The venue continues to be Hidden Valley Lake’s Greenview Restaurant conference room.

Of special notice was the attendance of District 4 Director SIR George Gorohoff, who complimented the branch on its proceedings, as well as the inauguaration of the new U.S. flag, flown over our nation’s Capitol in honor of the branch’s veterans.

For the use of all SIR #133 functions, the flag was obtained through Congressman John Garamendi’s office. The handsome certificate indicating the same was read aloud to the members by Big Sir Gary Foote.

Golf Director SIR Jim Cary reported that 100 percent of those memberswishing to play in this year’s tournaments have paid their Northern California Golf Association dues. He also announced that the opening tourney is scheduled for April 6 at 9 a.m. in the town of Arbuckle.

All branch golfers are understandably excited about the event.

Membership Chairman SIR John Jones reported on the need for recruiting additional members, in as much as the Valley Fire negatively affected #133’s constituency.

Sons In Retirement is a fraternal/social organization which meets every third Friday for a noon lunch at Hidden Valley Lake. If you are interested in joining a great group of guys, contact Jones at 707-485-2855 or Foote at 707-367-7978. All are welcome.

SIRs Bill Lyon and Jack Worster reported for Sunshine SIR Bob Costello and informed the group of the health issues of some branch #133 member SIRs. SIR Bill Surber provided the financial status of the branch.

The Big SIR introduced the featured speaker, Whitney Petrey, who gave a valuable history lesson on Lake County as a whole. Her presentation was very informative.

The speakers for the March 18 meeting are Steve Hajik and Sam Upton of Lake County Weights and Measures.
