Bearing fruit

Galilee Lutheran Church

Lay leader: Kristy Weiss

Jesus told a story, in the Gospel of Luke, of a man who had a fig tree. He told his gardener, “For three years now I’ve been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down!” And the gardener said, “Leave it alone for one more year, and I’ll fertilize it. If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.”

The lesson is obvious. Either we bear fruit in our lives, or else we are cut down. The good news is, we get one more year. The bad news? We get dumped on by a load of fertilizer.

Kristy Weiss will be speaking this Sunday at 10:00, with music provided by MaryBeth Ingvoldstad on the piano. This is the third Sunday in our 40 day Lenten journey to the Cross and Beyond. Join us also on Tuesday night, with a Bible Study at 6:00, and a midweek Lenten service at 7:15.

All are welcome at Galilee. Visit us on FaceBook or at www.galileekelseyville.org.

Galilee Lutheran Church is located at 8860 Soda Bay Road, Kelseyville, just 1/4 mile south of Konocti Harbor Inn.

The law of love

Clear Lake Baptist Church

Pastor: Ray Smith

Christians are to let love govern their lives but there are certain behaviors that do not follow the law of love. Believers are called to love but also separate from people who are not living by the law of love. Believe it or not, it is loving to deal with people that way like we discipline our own children when they are disobedient.

Come Sunday to find out more. Service at 10:45 a.m. for worship and encouragement. We have Bible studies at 9:15 a.m. for all ages. At 6 p.m., we have our evening Bible study. We have midweek services so check out the schedule online or call the church office (707) 263-3256.
