Clearlake >> For the second year in a row, Charlotte Griswold of Clearlake has offered to match, dollar-for-dollar, the donations that are made to Highlands Senior Service Center (HSSC) during the months of March and April. That means that everyone who makes a donation to HSSC during these months effectively doubles their donation.

Without community support, HSSC could not continue to provide the same level of care for seniors that they have for the last 38 years. Community donations are vital to the continued success of the programs at HSSC.

Because HSSC was an evacuation center during last years’ devastating fires, their biggest fundraiser of the year had to be cancelled, causing them to suffer an incalculable monetary loss. Federal and state funding continues to shrink more and more every year, failing to keep up with the increasing numbers of seniors who need the programs offered at the senior center, and the increasing costs associated with providing these services.

This is an opportunity for the people of Clearlake and the surrounding communities to step up and show their support for HSSC and the work they do for seniors. And since HSSC is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, your gifts are tax deductible.

For more information on the Dollar For Dollar Challenge, on how you can donate to HSSC or on their programs and services, feel free to call HSSC at (707) 994-3051, or drop by the office located at 3245 Bowers Ave. in Clearlake.
