The Lake County Winery Association (LCWA) Wine Adventure weekend takes place May 20-22, featuring three days of wine tasting, food and music.

The 2016 weekend will kick off with Casino Royale, a gala evening at Twin Pine Casino and Hotel event center in Middletown. Guests will be treated to award-winning Lake County wines paired with appetizers prepared by the Manzanita Grill. Dancing to the sounds of The Special Guests band and table games will keep the party rocking.

“Get dolled up in your best evening clothes and prepare to ‘Bond’ with us” said LCWA Executive Director Terry Dereniuk.

Saturday and Sunday more than 25 wineries will welcome passport holders to enjoy wines, food tidbits, and more. Many of the locations will carry the “Bond” theme through the weekend for extra fun. Wineries will be open for passport visitors from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. A special Friday check-in will be offered to those who want to pick up their passport kits with commemorative wine glass, wine bag, and wrist band to avoid the Saturday morning rush.

For the latest information, tickets and a list of the Friday locations, visit www.lakecountywineries.org/adventure.

This year, two charity organizations will benefit from the weekend events. LCWA will donate $5 of every full price Casino Royale or passport ticket to #LakeCountyRising Valley Fire Relief Fund. #LakeCountyRising is a collaborative fundraising effort of the Lake County Winegrape Commission, Lake County Winery Association, and Lake County Wine Alliance. Funds raised will go to projects that help fire survivors rebuild their lives. To date, over $275,000 has been given to projects supporting children and reforestation efforts.

For the third year in a row, the Lake County Relay For Life team will receive funds raised through sales of raffle tickets for the instant wine cellar package. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life movement is the world’s largest and most impactful fundraising event to end cancer. It unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all. Lake County Relay For Life volunteers will be at selected locations on Saturday and Sunday offering raffle tickets for sale. The lucky winner will be drawn on Sunday afternoon and will take home an instant wine cellar of Lake County wines.

Wine Adventure weekend was started in 2004 with less than half a dozen wineries as a way to showcase Lake County wineries. The region has continued to grow and now boasts more than 35 licensed producers.

“Wine Adventure is a wonderful way for people to experience our wine region,” Dereniuk said. “Whether attempting to visit every location, or focusing on an area or AVA, it offers a unique way to discover our wines and explore the region.”

LCWA works to promote the wines of Lake County’s high elevation region. Membership is open to wineries, winegrape growers, and individuals or businesses interested in promoting the Lake County wine industry.
