UPDATED:

Rabbi Richard Altman has released the Yahrzeits for March, for those who may need to light a Yahrzeit (memorial) candle.

For those of you who follow the Yahrzeit observance custom for your relatives, a special Yahrzeit candle should be lit beginning at sunset on the evening before the day listed, and normally stays lit for 24 hours.

Rabbi Altman has several extra Yahrzeit candles available at no charge, which may be picked up at one of the Shabbat services or from his home. Please let him know if you need one.

Whenever possible, please make an extra effort to join the congregation for the listed Shabbat service. It is much better to recite the Mourner’s Kaddish among your friends at Beit Chavurah.

It is very important in the Jewish tradition to remember Yahrzeits. If you have lost a close relative this year (or even in past years), please send Rabbi Altman the information. He needs the person’s name, the date of death (as close as you can come), and his/her relationship to you. Even if you don’t light a Yahrzeit candle, he will read their names at the Shabbat service nearest to the actual date of the Yahrzeit.

Also, if anyone needs a copy of the Mourner’s Kaddish, please let the Rabbi know and he will be happy to send it to you (with the Hebrew and Transliteration).

Please check out the Beit Chavurah Memorial Page, at beitchavurah.awardspace.com/memorial.htm.

Donations in memory of a friend or loved one may be sent to: Richard Altman, PO Box 4388, Clearlake, CA 95422. Make out the check to “Richard Altman” and put “Memorial” on the memo line, along with the person’s name you are honoring.
