Lucerne >> Northshore Community Center, 3985 Country Club Drive, is holding its board of director’s meeting on March 14 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting is usually the first Tuesday of the month for future attendance. The board is also hosting a two-hour retreat 1 to 3 p.m. on March 19 for the purpose of guiding future planning. Both meetings are open to the public.

The board is currently recruiting members to help with the guidance of the venter. Coffee, tea and refreshments will be provided at the meetings but feel free to bring other snacks to share.

Among other upcoming events is North Shore Poets & Song Writers on Wednesday. This is a monthly event on the second Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. All poets and songwriters from Lake County are welcome. This is a free event. All present are given an opportunity to read and/or sing. If you want to accompany your writing, feel free to bring your instrument. All ages older than 18 and styles are invited to the gathering.

Also plan to attend monthly Open Mic Lucerne (OML) on March 19 from 6 to 11 p.m. This live event happens every third Saturday. Performers are on stage with house band FOGG starting the evening at 6 p.m. with classic and heavy metal rock and roll with original numbers and covers. FOGG and other entertainers will wrap up the evening by 11 p.m. Assistance is available for amplification. Bands and individuals are already signing up. Past events have seen full venues, so sign up early. Call 274-8779 for your reserved time or come and sign-up at the event. Music, comedy, mime, readings and any other activity that is family-oriented is appreciated. Room is also available for dancing and relaxing. This is a free event, no charge to attend or perform. A spaghetti dinner with the works is available at the event for $5.

The center is also hosting A Grateful Dead Dance on Saturday March 26 3:30 to 10:30 p.m. The first three hours is an opportunity for music and instruments swap meet. The multimedia happening featuring the Pick-Up Band for musical accompaniment starts at 6 p.m. DJ Frank spins live Grateful Dead recordings. With a fee of $5 door entry, you can have dance lessons, participate in art tables and watch light shows. If you have a real Grateful Dead ticket stub, you enter free. Plan to perform if you like. Assistance is available with amplification. Tie dye is optional. Call 274-9352 to volunteer or to get more details.

This not-for-profit serves north shore senior populations with on-site lunches, Meals on Wheels, social events, and advocacy. It also has many other activities for seniors and families.
