Lower Lake >> Lake County Domestic Exchange Project is hosting a pizza fundraiser on March 16 to host seven kids and two adults who will visit Lake County and surrounding areas to see all California has to offer.

Last summer, six members of the Lake County 4-H Domestic Exchange program earned money by fundraising in order to visit Meeker County, Minnesota. While staying with these Minnesota 4-H families, Lake County 4-H kids visited an ethanol plant, an underground mine, a goat dairy, the U.S. Olympic Hockey Team training center and discovered a new favorite food: cheese curds. This summer it is the Lake County 4-H members turn to host.

Originally formed as an agricultural organization, 4-H offers the community’s young people hands-on projects to choose from and emphasizes experiential learning. One of the opportunities is the Domestic Exchange program. Domestic Exchange allows youth to visit other 4-H communities within the United States and learn about their culture.

The all-you-can-eat pizza fundraiser on takes place at DJ’s Pizza in Lower Lake, 6-8 p.m.

Tickets cost $8 and are available at the event.
