Brain Storm

I woke up with a brain storm, not a brain explosion!

I feel like I have an idea that will help our county and our fire victims tremendously. As it stands today we have lost many homes in the fire and many people do not have a lot of money even after they were paid by their insurance company, the interest rates keep going up and right now every dollar is important to the contractors, the homeowners and I feel that I have an idea that will work.

Last year when the property tax time came for each homeowner, the county received thousands of dollars in property taxes. Now after the fire, all we have are a lot of bare lots with bare land taxes. The tax department will be hurting for funds to no end. If I was a supervisor today, I would make a motion with an explanation to the other board members to help the county and the taxpayers. We should cut all permits for new construction by 50 percent, if the new residence was completed within 100 days. So when it came tax time, the tax man would have all this new revenue. All the plumbers, contractors, electricians, concrete etc. would be able to go to work tomorrow as this would create so many jobs and get lots of people back to work.

It would be a boom for Lake County. I am talking about all the homes that were burnt, Cobb Mountain, Anderson Springs, Hidden Valley, Spring Valley, any place in the County that the wild fires touched. This would make our economy boom overnight. Right now everyone needs jobs, places to live. So here is how we solve the problem, when the tax office collects the taxes on the new structures the tax man should reimburse the building department the 50 percent that was deducted from the building fees for the new construction fees and get the building started.

The building department would have its money and the tax man would have income that he would not have otherwise. This is a win win for all the taxpayers of Lake County, especially the ones that were damaged by the fire.

Voter disenfranchisement

Does Craig Stankiewicz only listen to the lame stream media (FOX News)? There is plenty of evidence that people are being disenfranchised. Here is one report: www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2016/02/29/voters-in-these-super-tuesday-states-will-face-new-stricter-requirements/. One of the reasons legislatures make laws is to redress grievances. The states that have enacted these laws claim they are to prevent voter fraud. As there have been no verified cases of voter fraud affecting an election I wonder why these laws have been enacted. Here is an interview by Comedy Central which, while not meant to be serious journalism, actually is serious and is shows that the law is meant to disenfranchise Democrats:

And here is another article on the Pennsylvania law which the Governor (R) stated would allow Romney to win the states 2012 election.

www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2012/10/02/the-pennsylvania-voter-id-fight-explained/

Does Craig ask himself why these voter ID laws are only enacted in states who’s legislative bodies are controlled by Republicans? How can he not see that this is the only reason?

Misused time

After reading that last lengthy rant, I am Really confused:

Since when did “communists, socialists,” (liberals, leftists), replace “Lions, tigers and bears, oh my”?

I also couldn’t tell which children’s fairytale book it is in! Grimm’s? Aesop’s Fables? The internet?

As that nice lady wrote in last week, try living life, maybe golf or bowling? Spending hours on the internet makes people odd.

Could it be?

Every mention of The Donald “Trump”-eting reminds me of the quote, “… full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”

Or, wait: Could it be that Trump, at loose ends this year, decided to add to his resume with a run for the Presidency? Knowing there is little chance at staying put anywhere for four years, why not give it a chance?

Besides, Hillary may have approached the idea to him, knowing his methods would discourage most others. She has a worthy record and agenda to offer — though it may be gained by less than honorable means on occasion.
