MIDDLETOWN >> Middletown High School senior Kailei Foltmer continues to rake in the kudos after a solid season on the wrestling mat for the Mustangs.

Foltmer, the North Coast Section 131-pound champion this season and a two-time qualifier for the CIF State Girls’ Wrestling Championships, was recently honored as the Coastal Mountain Conference Female Student Athlete of the Year for the 2015-16 season. Fort Bragg senior Sam Perkins earned the Male Student Athlete of the Year award.

Along with plaques, both Foltmer and Perkins received $375 scholarships.

Foltmer also ran cross country for the Mustangs during the fall sports season and was among Lake County’s and the CMC’s top runners. She is currently playing on the softball team.

The daughter of Middletown High School varsity football coach Bill Foltmer, Kailei is also a hard worker in the classroom where she carries a 4.1 grade point average.
