Kelseyville >> Kelseyville Unified School District’s (KUSD) bond Measure “U” will be consolidated with the presidential primary election to be held on June 7, and will be submitted to qualified voters as set forth below:
“To improve the quality of education with funding that cannot be taken by the State; repair or replace leaky roofs; modernize/renovate outdated classrooms, restrooms and school facilities; repair/replace inefficient heating and air-conditioning systems; update inadequate electrical systems; and upgrade PE fields and facilities for school and community use; shall the Kelseyville Unified School District issue $24,000,000 of bonds at legal rates, have an independent citizens’ oversight committee and have NO money used for administrative salaries?”
Voters have the option of choosing yes or no.
Arguments for and against Measure U must be typed and submitted to the Lake County Registrar of Voters, Courthouse-Room 209, 255 N. Forbes St. in Lakeport, no later than 5 p.m. on March 25.
Written arguments may be submitted by the governing board of KUSD or any member or members of the board, or any individual voter who is eligible to vote on the measure, or bona fide association of citizens, or any combination of such voters and associations may file a written argument for or against any school measure.
No argument shall exceed 300 words in length. No more than five signatures shall appear with any argument. All arguments must be accompanied by the “Statement That Argument Is True And Correct” as required by section 9600 of the California Elections Code provided by the Lake County Registrar of Voters office, stating the printed name and signature or printed names and signatures of the person or persons submitting it or, if submitted on behalf of an organization, the name of the organization and the printed name and signature of at least one of its principal officers.
Only one argument for and one argument against School Bond Measure “U” shall be selected for printing and distribution with the sample ballots. Author(s) of a selected argument may prepare and submit a rebuttal argument not exceeding 250 words to the Lake County Registrar of Voters no later than 5 p.m. on April 1. The Lake County Registrar of Voters will notify the author(s) of selected arguments in writing of the procedure to submit a rebuttal argument.
Interested persons are advised to contact the Lake County Registrar of Voters office at 263-2372 prior to the deadline (March 25) for filing arguments.
Measure U will be submitted to the voters residing within the KUSD at the June 7 elections. The polls will be open between the hours of 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
