When a “Do Not Disturb” sign is covering the doorbell, how could they even find it?
One day while my mother was sleeping, some man rang the doorbell. Mother answered the door and the man asked, “Is your husband here?”
And she said, “No, he is out in the orchard. Give me your phone number and he’ll call you when he gets home.”
Then she asked, “Why did you ring the doorbell when the sign was over the bell and the sign said ‘Do Not Disturb Day Sleeper’?”
So she didn’t give the number to my dad. She took it with her when she went to work that night.
At 3 a.m. she called that guy and he answered.
Mom asked, “Did you get ahold of my husband?”
And the man said, “Look lady, do you know what time it is?”
She said, “Yes, it’s my lunch hour.”
He never came back to the house again. But dad had a good laugh.
