Political poison?

Did I misunderstand Mac McKay’s statement (RB 3-19), “This is why the political waters are poisoned …”? He then goes on to say, “you want us to believe that Hillary Clinton is the answer with all of her lying, deceptions and baggage. Who is really brain dead?” and, “… if the Dems can’t give you enough free stuff you now have a right to steal it? Is this what we have come to under liberal Democrat leadership?” Is the definition of poisoned political waters only apply when a ‘liberal’ Democrat says something bad about Trump? So Mac will not be ostracizing George Will or Charles Krauthammer for saying worse things about Trump?

A better nation

In Mr. McKay’s letter as to the perceived lack of merits of my thoughts that greeted him on his return from his vacation, he answered the question that when a tree falls in the forest when no one is around, does it make a sound, and the same for when a bear has a bodily function, and so on.

He stated his ever present misapprehensions for the ideas of us liberals of this great nation and allowed all to hear the sound of his bubble bursting like the same sound we will hear when Hillary breaks another glass ceiling in November. On Hillary’s worst day, this nation will be 10 times better than the clown car’s agenda, that represents the Republican party at the present.

As always McKay shares his factless drivel about how the conservative party members of the Republican party are being forced to support the poor, who he thinks are always folks of color, or lazy. He degrades the elderly who funded with their own contributions our Social Security Program, and are not being funded by the nation’s taxpayers. He forgets the old folks funded their own Medicare, and all taxpayers fund the other programs that protect the 99 percent of our nation’s citizens, from the power hungry, greedy 1 percent who he champions so heartily. He forgets how the hard worked elders suffered and even starved in the past, like the poor did before food stamps.

Luckily for the average citizen, our nation appears to be moving further to liberal leanings year after year. Meanwhile people like McKay, and the wealthy, fear losing their grips on power and wring their hands. They ignore the great disparagement between the working classes’ wages and corporate America’s top tier management and their CEO’s excessive rewards, and the problems their greed has caused. They fear the sunset on their past self-centered heartlessness towards their fellow citizen’s.

And contrary to their assertions, there is no Joe Biden Rule keeping us from having a 9th Supreme Court Justice at this time. The internet and social media has lifted the curtain of lies and untruths more and more as each day passes, and we will hear the sound of many more bubbles bursting and glass ceilings breaking, that the conservative’s have used to downgrade our view and belief in the American Dream. We’ll finally get equal pay so both genders will be treated fairly. Liberal adjustment will bring affordable higher educations of our children, fair law enforcement in our courts, and downgrading the pockets of hate and bigotry. We’ll get enforced regulations that help all members of our nation live a life of safety and security, and not just the few at the top. We’ll gain the funds to get lead out of our water and rebuild our infrastructure. We’ll get the information to keep us from being pushed around by the powerful, at last.

Future taxpayers funds will be spent more on those programs that benefit our nation’s living standards, and not those that benefit just corporate America and the rich and powerful. Uniform laws will break the back of those states who support bigotry and mistreatment of the working class when they use state laws to disallow the use of unions and voters rights.

The future will be open to a better use of new positive ideas, based on wider tolerance for our fellow man, that are not championed by fear and hate. In time our nation will reach a point of dignity never experienced in the past, equally shared by our citizens. It will be the era of we can and we will. McKay will be one of the beneficiaries when a higher degree of fair and equal pay is approved.

Who is responsible?

These days, every time I cross Scotts Creek and see the “chocolate milk” flow, I wonder about our lake and its future. Recently there has been a lot of discussion about what might be done to improve the lake, the county, and Lakeport that contains many good ideas. To me, a major problem seems to be that most suggestions seem to be lacking in specificity and responsibility. The lake and its environs needs all the help it can get, but there seems to be no general knowledge of who is responsible for what.

I suspect that the federal government is (still) responsible (as I understand it) for the yet to be completed superfund cleanup of the mercury mine. But from there, the fog sets in. What entity “owns” the lake and to what extent? If you are a lakeshore property owner how far out does your property extend and what is your responsibility for maintaining the shoreline in proper order? If a creek flows through your property or the edge of your property, what is your responsibility for maintaining free flow? Or is it a property rights issue — “its my property and I’ll do what I want with it!” Who, if anyone, is responsible for the erosion that flows down Scotts Creek. What is the current status of the Hitch study? And so on!

I suspect that a major part of the problem is that too many of our county’s residents know far too little about who is responsible for what, and without that knowledge, management of the total problem is more than difficult. A lot more transparency would help.
