HEALDSBURG >> The Kelseyville Knights are 3-0 against all teams not Healdsburg this season. Unfortunately for head coach Lou Poloni and company, they are 0-2 against the Greyhounds.

Kelseyville lost its second game to Healdsburg in four days on Tuesday night, falling 4-2 under the lights at Recreation Park in Healdsburg. The Knights were looking at a shutout until scoring twice in the top of the seventh. They had the bases loaded when the game ended with a strikeout.

“We had runners in scoring position in six of the seven innings,” Poloni said. “We didn’t cash in when we needed to.”

Losing pitcher Logan Barrick, pitching on three days rest, went the distance, allowing only five hits and two earned runs while striking out nine and walking none.

“He threw the ball well, threw only 82 pitches,” Poloni said. “He said he felt good.”

Poloni said his junior, who worked all nine innings in a 1-0 victory over Arcata on Friday in Kelseyville, deserved a better fate.

“We’ve just got to get him some runs,” Poloni said.

“We’re pitching well and we’re getting pretty good defense,” Poloni added. “If we ever get all three things we’ll be pretty good.”

Kelseyville’s only error of the game set up a two-run Healdsburg second inning. The Greyhounds tacked on two more runs in the fourth for a 4-0 lead.

The Knights scored in the seventh on a bases-loaded walk to Barrick and Sambhava Baird’s RBI single.

Randy Pfann went 2-for-3 for the Knights. Baird and Barrick had the only other hits.

Kelseyville closes out its preseason schedule with a home game Saturday against St. Bernard of Eureka at 11 a.m.
