CLOVIS >> The Punishers Wrestling Club of Lower Lake had an eventful weekend, splitting its forces so that members could attend two different tournaments.

While Aiden Dancer and Alexis Peregrina were attending the Kids SCWAY State Championships in Clovis, Travis Boyles, Bryan Gudino and Arturo Gudino made the long haul to the Rocky Mountain Nationals main event in Colorado.

At the SCWAY State Championships, Dancer won four of his six matches in the 8-and-under 58-pound bracket to secure a fifth-place medal. Dancer won each of his first three matches by pin before dropping a 13-3 decision to Nikade Zinken of Dethrone Mixed Martial Arts of Fresno. Once in the consolation bracket, Dancer lost in the consolation semifinals but came back to win the fifth-place match.

Peregrina secured the eighth-place medal in the 8-and-under 84-pound division.

In Colorado, Boyles came within a 5-4 decision in the finals of winning it all in the 8-and-under 46-pound division. Along the way he beat Oklahoma state champion Jesse Justice, stunning him with a 41-second, first-round pin.

Bryan Gudino wrestled his way to a fifth-place medal in the 12-and-under 62-pound division while brother Arturo came up just short of a medal in the 8-and-under division.

The Punishers hit the road again this weekend to compete in the California USA Wrestling Kids Folkstyle State Championships at Selland Arena in Fresno.
