HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE >> St. Vincent’s Alex Graham shot a 1-over-par 73 on Wednesday afternoon to lead the pack during a Coastal Mountain Conference South match at Hidden Valley Lake Golf Course.

St. Vincent, the CMC South leader through two matches at 12-0, finished with a team total of 311 (the combined total of its four low scorers) to easily beat out host Middletown at 393. St. Helena finished third with 474. Kelseyville, Geyserville and Rincon Valley Christian all had incomplete teams (fewer than four golfers) while Technology High School of Rohnert Park, which is on spring break this week, was a no-show.

“Despite everything I’ve heard and read about it, I thought the course was in good shape,” Kelseyville coach John Berry said. “It’s fine, especially the greens.”

Graham carded three birdies during his round.

Outside of St. Vincent, the many-time CMC South champion, Kelseyville’s Matt Wotherspoon had the next best round at 8-over-par 80. He played well with the exception of three holes — triple-bogeys on Nos. 1 and 3 and a double-bogey on No. 12 – according to Berry.

“He was very steady,” Berry said of his sophomore team leader who carded a pair of birdies.

Also for Kelseyville, Jon Vanderwall finished with 121 and Mike Beverlin had 130.

Middletown, now tied with St. Helena for second place in the conference standings at 9-3. was led by Chelsea Tom’s 91. Quentin Crayne and Derek Coulter added rounds of 99 while Tyler McSween finished at 104.

Among other golfers in the field, Carson Kalvefelisch of Geyserville finished at 85.

The CMC South visits Foxtail South in Rohnert Park next Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Kelseyville will join the CMC North teams on Tuesday during a match at Little River Golf Course on the Mendocino County coast.
