JV boys

Lower Lake racked up a handful of firsts in the junior varsity boys’ division.

The Trojans’ 4×100-meter JV relay team of Angel Jauregui, Charles Powell, Matthew Clausen and Jordan Lott finished first. In individual events, Hanzel Pelcastre won the 400 (1:01.5) and 1,600 (5:32.0) while Romeo Barrientos posted firsts in the 100 hurdles (20.4) and 300 hurdles (50.9). While his 2016 track team is young — Lower Lake head coach Koda Livngston said 85 percent of the team is comprised of freshmen and sophomores of which nearly half are competing in track for the first time — the Trojans are loaded with promise.

“With so many new athletes to our program it is indeed impressive with the amount of growth we have achieved so far and scary to fathom the amount of potential soon to be tapped,” Livingston said. “We are working hard and having fun.”
