LAKEPORT >> Fee raised associated with four different Lake County departments were approved by the Board of Supervisors this week.
The changes increase the Lake County Library fines from 20 to 25 cents, Community Development Department’s fees by 25 percent along with doubling the $250 rate for CEQA initial studies to $500.
Additionally, the BOS action also creates a new reassessment fee for the Assessor-Recorder — $35 to $100 depending on the property’s size — and makes its document recording fees $14 instead of $7.
According to Deputy County Administrative Officer Josh Jones, this is the first part of bumps across the board.
“Staff started working on a master fee ordinance, but it ended up not being feasible to put every single fee and charge into one single ordinance,” Jones said, adding that a master fee schedule is still in the works. “That will avoid amending and reammending(sic) ordinances all the time and will prove to be efficient.”
The measure was passed unanimously, 5-0.
District 5 Supervisor Rob Brown said the measures were “a good approach.”
“We’re looking at, hopefully, some increases in pay to some of our staff and this is the way to pay for them,” he said.
