LAKEPORT >> A man arrested 10 times over a 14 month span was detained by police on two more occasions this month. Late Thursday night he even tried to let himself into the Lakeport Police Office.
At approximately 11 p.m. on March 24, officers working in the patrol office heard someone outside trying to open the door handles and electronic locks. The officers contacted the subject, who they recognized as Jason Micah Whitcher, 45 of Lakeport.
According police chief Brad Rasmussen, Whitcher tried to walk inside when officers confronted him, but was stopped.
The officers reported that Whitcher was highly intoxicated, placed him under arrest and transported him to Sutter Lakeside Hospital for medical clearance.
When officers arrived the next morning to transport him from the hospital to the Lake County Jail for booking, Whitcher allegedly resisted their efforts both verbally and physically. Officers eventually resorted to force to place him in the vehicle.
Whitcher’s behavior continued during the ride to the jail. He reportedly spit on an officer through the safety cage and issued threats.
Earlier this month Whitcher ended up in police custody after he was reported to be drunk and disorderly in Library Park. During this arrest, which occurred on March 7, Whitcher allegedly threatened to kill the arresting officer.
This arrest resulted in Whitcher being placed on summary court probation. It followed a string of incidents, many involving public intoxication.
Whitcher has prior arrests for charges including possession of drugs and paraphernalia, being under the influence of drugs, sales or transportation of drugs, vandalism, theft, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, burglary, threatening a school or public officer, battery on a person, challenging to fight, battery on a peace officer and resisting a peace officer.
His prior convictions include four for resisting/delaying and obstructing a peace officer and one for battery on a peace officer.
On Friday officers booked Whitcher for public intoxication, battery on a peace officer, resisting/delaying and obstructing a peace officer, threatening an executive officer and for violation of probation.
Whitcher currently remains in custody on a no bail hold due to the probation violation.
