
LAKEPORT >> Fives were wild for host Terrace Middle School on Thursday during the Lake County Junior High Athletic League Wrestling Championships in Lakeport.
Fifteen out of 18 Terrace wrestlers came away with medals — five firsts, five seconds and five thirds.
First-place medals went to Enzo Torres (84 pounds) and Raymond Gonzales-Shoaf (180) among the boys and to Mackinzie Markham (99), Teagan Miller (136) and Ashley Vasquez (185) among the girls. Torres and Gonzales-Shoaf each went 2-0 with one pin. One of Gonzales-Shoaf’s wins came in double-overtime. Markham went 3-0 while Miller and Vasquez each went 2-0 with two pins.
Finishing with second-place medals were Donald Mingo, who went 2-1 with two pins at 145 pounds, Sterling Wong at 192 pounds, and Dominic Legendre at 264 pounds. Wong and Legendre each went 1-1 with one pin. For the girls, second-place medals went to Mavis Pyorre, who was wrestling up at 110 pounds and went 2-1 with two pins, and to Carlie Green, who went 2-1 with one pin, including an overtime victory.
Third-place medals were awarded to Elijah Alvarez, who was wrestling up at 98 pounds, and to Frank Weiler at 192 pounds. For the girls, third-place medals went to Bryanna Johnson (99), Alyssa Gray (166) and Delia Shirley (185).
