FORT BRAGG >> Terrace Middle School wrestlers spent the day before Easter collecting medals instead of eggs on Saturday at the Del Fiorentino Invitational in Fort Bragg.

The Vikings entered 10 wrestlers and came away with seven medals, including two firsts.

Weight division winners were Ashley Vasquez at 194 pounds and Mavis Pyorre at 100 pounds. Vasquez won all four of her matches, including three by pin. Pyorre finished 3-0 with three pins.

Second-place medals went to Sterling Wong, who was wrestling up at heavyweight, Alyssa Gray at 194 pounds, Carlie Green at 125 pounds, and Elijah Alvarez at 85 pounds. Wong, Gray and Green all went 3-1 with two pins. Alvarez finished 2-1.

Donald Mingo secured a third-place medal at 150 pounds with a 1-2 record.

Just missing out on medals were Jesse Lewis and Delia Shirley.

While most of the Vikings have concluded their wrestling season, Pyorre still has one tournament left, the California Girls Middle School State Wrestling Championships on Saturday in Albany.
