Cobb >> Homeowners interrupted burglars at their house on Tuesday. Deputies were able to retrieve several stolen items and arrested a suspect in the crime.

The owners of the residence in the 9000 block of Venturi Drive in Cobb reported the burglary at about 7:40 p.m.

Upon their arrival, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) deputies spoke with homeowners, who said they were able to obtain the license plate number of the vehicle as it left the residence, LCSO Lt. Steve Brooks said in a media release. They were also able to take photographs of the vehicle with a cellphone and told deputies that the vehicle was occupied by two women.

The homeowners said their residence was partially damaged in the Valley Fire and they are currently staying at another location, according to Brooks. The exterior of the home sustained significant damage, but the interior and contents of their home were not damaged.

When they arrived at the home Tuesday night the homeowners noticed that a door had been forced open and several items were missing from inside the residence. It also appeared that every room inside the residence had been rummaged through.

Additionally, they also noticed their garage door had been kicked open and several large items were missing, which included a hot tub.

The deputies reviewed the pictures taken by the homeowners of the suspect vehicle leaving the property. They were able to read the license plate and noticed it had some damage to the front bumper. They were also able to see the two women inside.

Deputies searched the area and found the suspect vehicle on Highway 175 in Cobb. They conducted an enforcement stop and spoke with the solo occupant of the vehicle, who was identified Yvette Trapp, 66, of Clearlake Oaks.

According to Brooks, Trapp reportedly told the deputies that she had gone to the residence with a friend to take property from the home. She added that she had obtained information that the house was in foreclosure and that a real estate agent told a friend of hers that all of the property inside needed to be cleared out.

Trapp informed the deputies that all of the property she had taken from the residence was still in her vehicle.

The deputies searched the vehicle and retrieved several items which were reportedly stolen from the residence, Brooks said.

Trapp was arrested and faces charges of burglary, possession of stolen property and conspiracy. She was transported to the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility and booked. This investigation ongoing as deputies attempt to locate additional property taken from the residence.
