LOWER LAKE >> Winning pitcher Bobby Cruz tossed a two-hit shutout and went 3-for-3 with two RBIs at the plate as the Lower Lake Trojans blanked the Calistoga Wildcats 10-0 in non-league varsity baseball action on Thursday afternoon in Lower Lake.
The game was called after 4 ½ innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.
Cruz was in control throughout, striking out 10 and walking one as the Trojans improved to 5-2 on the season. He was supported by an offense that banged out 12 hits, of which he had three. Jordan McGrath also went 3-for-3, including a double.
Among Lower Lake’s other big sticks, Hokulani Wickard went 2-for-2 with a RBI, Eric Graves went 2-for-3, and Reed Diener went 1-for-3 with four RBIs.
Lower Lake visits Middletown in North Central League I action on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Both teams are 0-1 in league.
