FORT BRAGG >> The St. Bernard Crusaders pushed eight runs across the plate in the top of the first inning en route to an easy 13-3 victory over the Clear Lake Cardinals in a final-round varsity baseball game on Saturday at the Fort Bragg Tournament.
St. Bernard, a 9-8 loser to Clear Lake on March 25 in Lakeport, improved to 3-5 on the season while the Cardinals dropped to 2-8.
Clear Lake scored twice in the bottom of the fourth and again in the fifth. The Crusaders added an insurance run in the in the fifth before putting the game out of reach with a four-run sixth.
Tyler Manning was the losing pitcher.
Clear Lake did bang out 11 hits. Manning went 3-for-3 to lead the way and both Brandon Coakley and Hunter Daily had two hits apiece. Isaac Lewis and Jake Jackson each had a hit and a RBI.
The Cardinals have allowed double-digit run totals to their opponents in five straight games, including all three tourney games in Fort Bragg. They are 1-4 in that stretch, the win a 12-11 victory over Willits last week in the North Central League I opener for both teams.
Clear Lake is home today to play Kelseyville (1-0, 5-2) at 4 p.m.
