ALBANY >> Two members of the Lake County Wrestling Club of Kelseyville came home with medals from the California Girls Middle School State Championships on Saturday in Albany.

Eighth-grader Bailey Huggins, a sixth-place medalist a year ago at 112 pounds, earned a fourth-place medal this year at 107 pounds. Huggins won her first two matches before losing to the eventual 107-pound winner in the semifinals. She came back with a win by pin in the consolation bracket to reach the third-place match, losing there.

Danielle Stevens, competing as a 155-pounder for the second year in a row, won a fifth-place medal after just missing out on a medal a year ago.

Many of the Lake County Wrestling Club team members will be back in action this coming weekend at the Reno World Championships.
