LOWER LAKE >> The Healdsburg Greyhounds may petition to play in the North Central League I soon.
Healdsburg beat the Lower Lake Trojans 11-1 in a game called after six innings because of the 10-run mercy rule on Wednesday afternoon in Lower Lake, improving to 5-0 against Lake County teams this season. The Greyhounds also own non-league victories over Clear Lake and Middletown as well as two against Kelseyville.
Healdsburg improved to 9-5 overall with its latest victory. The Greyhounds built a 5-0 lead with three runs in the top of the first and two more in the third before Lower Lake (5-4) scored its lone run in the bottom of the third on a leadoff single by Isaiah Klein, a walk to Ethan Watson, a passed ball, and a one-out grounder to second base by Bobby Cruz, Klein scoring on the play.
Healdsburg broke the game wide open with a five-run fifth and added an insurance run in the sixth.
Other than Klein’s single, the Trojans had just one other hit, a single by Reed Diener.
Jordan McGrath made the start and took the loss. He allowed seven runs in 4 1/3 innings, struck out one and walked five. Eric Graves finished up.
Lower Lake hosts Cloverdale in NCL I action on Friday at 4 p.m.
