Kelseyville >> The latest 4-by-4-foot quilt block on the Lake County Quilt Trail (LCQT) is “Dancing Crow,” It is located on a historic barn at Dancing Crow Vineyards at 3600 Gaddy Lane in Kelseyville. It may be viewed from the street at a distance.

“One cool, spring day in the shadow of Mt. Konocti, a family came to lay out their vineyard using straw to mark the vines,” the vineyard’s website states. “While feasting during their midday lunch they saw a murder of crows dancing around the straw, which made them laugh. Yet, when they looked again, the crows and the straw were gone. The family learned two things that day: be wary of dancing crows, and what to name their vineyard.”

Owners Sarah Forni and Tony Cartlidge have been making their award winning Sauvignon Blanc for 10 years from this property. Two years ago owners, Maile Field and Lars Craal, moved to Virginia and sold the 28-acre vineyard to the Forni-Cartlidges. This property had been owned by the same family since the 1850s.

The LCQT is an agricultural and tourism project designed to promote community pride.

The quilt block was drawn and painted by the LCQT team from the design suggestion given by the Forni-Cartlidge family. LCQT is a group of dedicated volunteer quilters, graphic artists, painters, writers, carpenters and a videographer.
