KELSEYVILLE >> Taylor Paulich’s two-run single snapped a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the fifth and touched off a five-run Kelseyville rally in the inning as the Knights beat the St. Helena Saints 9-5 for their first North Central League I softball win of the season on Friday afternoon in Kelseyville.

Kelseyville (1-2 league, 4-2 overall) had to rally from a 4-1 deficit against the Saints, who scored four times in the top of the third inning to take the lead. The Knights pulled even with a three-run bottom of the fourth before pushing ahead to stay in the fifth.

“We ran the bases really well and (Kailani) Brown made some nice plays at shortstop and so did (Bailey) Couey in center field,” Kelseyville coach Jeff Bour said.

The Knights also did the job up and down their batting order as six different players drove in at least one run. Couey went 2-for-3 with a RBI and three stolen bases while Bib Hamner went 2-for-3 with a RBI. Winning pitcher Morgan Profitt, Tymeka Green and Brown also drove in runs.

Profitt went the distance and allowed seven hits, struck out seven and walked two. Other than the four-run third, the only other run she allowed came in the seventh.

The Knights return to action Tuesday at Willits.
