Lake County >> The final day for students to submit artwork to Congressman John Garamendi’s annual student art competition is April 22.
The Artistic Discovery Contest is open to all high school students in the 3rd District, which includes all or portions of Colusa, Glenn, Lake, Sacramento, Solano, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba counties.
The over-all winner of the district’s competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington, D.C. will also include artwork from other contest winners nation wide.
Art works entered in the contest may be up to 28 inches by 28 inches large (including the frame) and may be up to 4 inches in depth. The art work may be:
• Paintings — including oil, acrylics and watercolor
• Drawings — including pastels, pencil, colored pencil, charcoal, ink and markers
• Collage
• Prints — including lithographs, silkscreen and block prints
• Mixed media
• Computer generated art
• Photography
All entries must be an original in concept, design and execution.
Students must complete the student information and release form located here: http://garamendi.house.gov/how—can—i—help/art—competition and drop off the artwork on one of the Congressman’s district offices: 412 G St. in Davis; 1261 Travis Blvd., Suite 130 in Fairfield; and 795 Plumas St. in Yuba City.
