Lakeport >> Ever thought that Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” album sounded more like a story than just an album? Well, musical director Nick Reid and his wife Valerie Reid thought so too. And their thinking led to collaboration and an original work written by Katy Tipton that opens at the Soper Reese Theatre on April 22.
The cast and crew, all from the Lake County area, are diligently building sets and rehearsing nightly for this new production.
“Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, The Musical” has dialogue that leads its audience through one couple’s relationship and features a few colorful characters along the way. The lead actors are Charise Reynolds as Candy Moorehouse, and Nick Powell as Ronnie Anderson, both of whom played the leads in last year’s production of “Jesus Christ Superstar.”
Tickets are now on sale for all six performances which take place on April 22 at 7 p.m.; April 23 at 7 p.m.; April 24 at 2 p.m.; April 29 at 7 p.m.; April 30 at 7 p.m.; and the last show on May 1 at 2 p.m. All seats reserved. Ticket prices are $20, $18 and $15.
