Sometimes the most difficult part of conducting oral history interviews is coordinating a time and place to interview the person you most want to record! Fear not, the Museums of Lake County will make it easy for you. As part of this year’s Book-to-Action program, the Lower Lake Historical Schoolhouse Museum will be hosting a meetup for those people who want to record stories and those who want to share theirs.

Get in touch with the person you most want to record and tell them that you will meet them in the Weaver Auditorium at the Lower Lake Historical Schoolhouse Museum on Saturday, April 23. The museum is open that day from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. and attendees are welcome to stop by at any time during these hours. Tables and chairs will be set up throughout the Auditorium for people to conduct interviews. Bring your own recording devices, pertinent questions and someone to interview. If you can’t think of someone to interview, bring a friend and practice good interviewing techniques. Museum staff will be available to provide pointers and feedback.

If you missed out on the official Oral History Workshop held at the Historic Courthouse Museum on April 16 from 10 a.m.. until noon, you can come to Lower Lake on April 23 and pick up handouts and other information that was provided at the workshop.

The Lower Lake Historical Schoolhouse Museum is located at 16435 Main St. Lower Lake and is open Wed-Sat 11 a.m.—4 p.m. Call the museum at 707-995-3565 for any questions.
