Supporting Saylor
Our community is very fortunate to have an exceptional candidate running for the open Assembly seat. He is Don Saylor, from Davis. He won my support when I first met him and heard his promise to protect and build on the rich resources of Lake County, including our special lake and communities.
He is optimistic about the future, with creative and inclusive proposals. He is very clearly a person of great integrity and substance who will lead by example and with heart.
Don Saylor has ably served 40 years in various capacities in local government such as City Council and School Board. He is highly qualified, and I am convinced he will support our county and our needs in a manner that is conscientious and effective.
I hope voters in our district will take the time to learn more about Don Saylor.

Rose should research
Mr. Rose, on the 4-12 RB front page you threaten to sue the state over the lack of controlled burns. Please research that topic. I think you’ll find the people of California stopped controlled burns in the courts, thinking they were protecting their property — or just collecting money for damage from fire.
And let’s not forget the nine property owners who wanted a controlled burn and the tenth who said no after what was then CDF had spent thousands to study, set up and plan a controlled burn.
Mr. Rose, the tide changed many years ago when, through our right to vote, the environmentalists took power from the good old boys, not realizing how cruel Mother Nature can be. A balance of old and new must be found to protect the ecosystem we call home.

Clarification was in order
I want to respond to Charles Moton of Lucerne in relation to his critique of my letter submitted 3-30-16.
I can understand, Mr. Moton, that you are a thinker and write interestingly. And I understand, too, that you disagree with me in a place or tow, and I disagree with you likewise. This can be largely due to the difference in our objectives in writing: you to hold to exactitude of word and meaning, I to stress the creativity of the human animal. This disagreement, incidently, is confirmation of one of my principal contentions: that because they’ve had different formative experiences, no two persons can ever quite fully agree. And to prolong this little digression I will add that man owes his disagreements for much of his creativity.
However, it’s hard to find something to disagree on in your letter “Clarification,” and I will have to agree to your statement that “Every word is a symbol.” Also, I should have written that “Every word that has a referent is in effect a metaphor.” It’s a metaphor in effect because it is used in place of its referent, which I use as referent when it’s not even a word; this because it serves “in effect” as a word; and this last because it affects the meaning I express the same as a word.
And, in my thinking, a metaphor is more like an analogy than a simile; for a metaphor, like an analogy, is similar to its analog in only one or very few particulars and is otherwise unlike its analog. Which brings us to the high regard of the analogy as the key to creation. This because the thin connection of meaning that connects the analogy and analog together bring forth each a new and different field of concepts for the enrichment of a creative quest.
But back to my letter. My allusion to communication with one’s own brain was meant to signify simply introversion, consideration of the self, daydreaming. This applies to man’s evolution only; for all animals, including man, are always evolving. The world and its contents do not stay the same as long as one second.
Thank you, Mr. Moton, for taking note of my letter.

Hillary’s disingenuous behavior
Hillary Clinton’s assertions that the Benghazi family members are confused or lying about what she said to them before the casket receiving ceremony is another one of her ridiculous lies. There is plenty of video of Obama, Susan Rice and Hillary Clinton spewing the same narrative garbage, that it was a spontaneous demonstration sparked by a despicable video of the Muslim faith and we are going to arrest the film’s producer.
We know their narrative to be valid because of their actions. The United States did arrest the film producer and spent $50,000 on a video sent to Pakistan explaining the non-involvement of the United States regarding the negative nature of this film. Let’s also remember that Hillary’s deceitful behavior started back during the Watergate investigations. She was ejected from the investigations and proceedings for disingenuous behavior.
Anyone that supports her for president is morally bankrupt.
