The SPCA of Lake County expects the Clearlake Pet Project to be the county’s largest ever free spay and neuter campaign.
Through a grant from PetSmart Charities, the Clearlake Pet Project can provide 500 surgeries to qualifying pet owners.
Details of the program are as follows:
• Pet owners must reside in Clearlake or Lower Lake.
• Pets must be owned and reside at the owner’s address.
• This is a program for very low-income pet owners.
• Dogs must be at least 4 months old / weigh 5 lbs. Cats must be at least 4 months old / weigh 3 lbs.
• Pets must be healthy enough to undergo anesthesia in the opinion of the examining vet.
• Pet owners will be notified if they are approved and when their appointment is.
• Owners missing their appointment will be disqualified from the program.

Clearlake Pet Project is a program of Animal Refugee Response, a non-profit organization based in Contra Costa County, with plans to expand their efforts into Lake County on an ongoing basis. Lake County Animal Control and Care offers spay and neuter services for qualified individuals. They will fix any Pitbull for a discounted cost: males $50, females $70. The shelter is currently at maximum capacity and really needs your help. For more information or to adopt call 707-263-0278.

The SPCA has a new name to reflect its commitment to change in a positive direction. SPCA of Lake County emphasizes our dedication to both reduce the number of unwanted animals and advocate responsible pet ownership for all of Lake County.
Under the leadership of Board President. Brenda Crandall, the SPCA of Lake County will focus its efforts on providing a high quality, high volume, affordable spay and neuter clinic, funding public outreach and education, and serving as the ambassador to the many organizations and individuals who want to help resolve the companion animal crisis in the community.

The SPCA of Lake County will be holding a monthly Vaccination Clinic on Sunday, May 15, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at their facility located at 8025 Highway 29, Kelseyville. Dr. Moreno from Main Street Vet and assistant Savannah Mello from Clearlake Vet will be regularly staffing the Clinic.
There are also many Veterinary practices in Lake County that offer vaccination clinics.
