Irresponsible pet owners
It appears that a letter I wrote some years back needs to be brought up once again.
My previous letter spoke to the issue of irresponsible pet owners allowing their pets to defecate on other people’s lawns without picking up said deposits. And it just so happens that the lawn that was being abused happened to be a church lawn that’s in full view of everyone.
I was told by a pet owner that they were sure that the church had someone that could pick it up. I told that person, just like I’m saying now, “it’s not about whether the church has someone to pick up after their pets, it’s about being a responsible pet owner and picking up after their own dog.
I’ve been told that the city of Lakeport has an ordinance that requires pet owners to pick up their pet’s waste. And if Lakeport doesn’t have such an ordinance and I’ve been misinformed, then shame on the city of Lakeport. But if Lakeport does have such an ordinance, then shame on those irresponsible pet owners that are not picking up after their animals.
This issue is not about whether the animal is large or small, it’s about being a responsible pet owner and picking up after your pet. After all, it takes very little effort to carry an empty plastic sack, turn it inside out, place one’s hand inside the sack, pick p the pet’s deposit and then pull the sack back over itself with the stuff inside.
Those irresponsible owners would not like it if other people came into their yards and returned the favor, would they?

Learn Pomo culture
Mr. Hall’s long letter of April 12 calling for more ‘love’ in Lake County — or rather a kinder society — caused me to think that perhaps some of the spirit he is calling for could be generated by fewer people using mind-altering drugs and fewer people having illegal guns.
Perhaps even longer school terms would help prepare children for our fast changing tech world. And how can young people learn responsibility for their actions if not from their parents? Certainly more civil debate between politicians would be a good example, also.
Mr. Hall’s letter brings up a lot of thoughts concerning the old values in Lake County. But then comes the question about Rattlesnake Island’s preservation. To understand this, people need to know why. Yes, from what I have read it did have snakes, but I don’t know how many. If the island is the heart of Lake County and the example of the kindness we should have here today, maybe would should know more about the Pomo culture, the villages and people who once lived there. Perhaps they did leave a footprint.
Such books as “The Writer Lady: Helen Carpenter and the Pomos of Be-Lo-Ki” by Elizabeth M. Crawford and K.C. Patrick’s “The Pomo of Lake County” will give those interested a look at the history of the early, peaceful Pomo culture.

A new Mac?
I would like to object to Thomas Nickel calling me morally bankrupt (RB 4-16). He states ‘facts’ concerning Hillary Clinton and fails to point to any evidence that backs up his assertions. One of the family members at the casket receiving ceremony states that Hillary said they would arrest the video producer. Another said that all the officials present said that that would happen. None of the other family members remember the video being mentioned.
Did one of the other officials mention this and the family member mis-remembered it as Hillary? If there is a video of Hillary stating that the video producer was responsible please point me to it as I have not been able to find any.
Yes, the video producer was taken in for questioning, by federal authorities, and due to the false statements he gave he was arrested and jailed (mainly for violation of parole). None of the counts was for the video or placing it on the internet. Check Wikipedia using Nakoula, or several other web sites.
One last point. The comment that Hillary was ‘ejected from the investigation’ was made by Jerry Zeifman (a committee lawyer during the Watergate hearings) in 2008. But in his 1995 book he said he would have fired her if he was able to. You see the problem was that he was not the lawyer in charge of Hillary. That was John Doar.
Hillary was part of the investigation until it ended when Nixon resigned. No President, no impeachment, no ejection. Two sources for the facts:

I thought I would only have to tell Mac this, but Mr. Nickel, check your facts, or point me to a video that shows Hillary saying the video was the cause of the attack on the Benghazi diplomatic compound.
