Sign-ups for the 10th annual CMAS Art and Science Camp are well under way. Parent information letters and permission slips have been delivered to schools and posted on the Lake County Office of Education web site. The deadline is Friday, April 22 but may be extended to April 29 if the 120 available slots are not filled by that date. Call Carolynn Jarrett at 994-2878 for more information regarding sign ups.

This free camp is open to any 4th to 6th grader countywide and takes place on Saturday, May 7 at the Ely Stage Stop and the Taylor Observatory. Students in groups of 20 with 2 adult leaders rotate through 3 stations at each venue. At Taylor, they see a planetarium show, have hands on time with microscopes to learn about creatures which inhabit our lake, and then spend time learning a song on the guitar. At Ely, they will make a sand candle, participate in a reader’s theater production, and experience stations lead by Historical Society docents which depict life in the 1850s. After a delicious lunch hosted by the Rotarians of Lake County, they will see an hour long raptor show sponsored by the Redbud Audubon Society.

This camp would not be possible without the support of the Lake County Office of Education, the Lake County Wine Alliance, The Redbud Audubon Society, The Lake County Historical Society, all the Rotary groups in Lake County, Foods, Etc and the many individuals who donate to the Children’s Museum of Art and Science.
